This time of year always brings a mix of anticipation and a little bit of pressure. Out here, you can feel the shift before you fully see it. The light changes. The air softens. The woods start to wake up. And with that comes the sense that it’s time to get things ready. We’ve been easing into that rhythm. Reorganizing the shed and moving things back outside. Getting the Airstream ready again, with a few short trips ahead of something bigger. Cutting and stacking trees we marked months ago, before the foliage takes over. And starting to shape a small retreat space down by the creek, something we’ve talked about for years, now finally taking form. It’s not one big moment. It’s a series of small decisions that slowly move things forward. There’s also a lot that happens behind the scenes. The prep, the resetting, the quiet work that most people never see. But it’s what makes the season possible. I find myself thinking about that more this time of year. Knowing when to start. Knowing what’s worth the effort right now, and what can wait. That same awareness carries into the work. Not every moment calls for something new. But there are times when it’s clear things have shifted. When it’s time to update photography. When it’s time to bring in video. When it’s time to move forward with intention instead of waiting. Sometimes it’s subtle. Sometimes it’s obvious. But when you’re paying attention, you know when it’s time.
