The Challenge
In the heart of Providence, Rhode Island, there's a hidden gem for all your design and hardware needs - Adlers Design Center and Hardware. This longstanding establishment has been serving the community for over 100 years, and they decided it was time to step up its game by showcasing its friendly customer service and extensive knowledge through video content. In this case study, I'll take you through the challenges they faced, the innovative solutions they adopted, and the remarkable results they achieved.
Adler's vision was to connect with their audience on a deeper level by answering design-related questions through engaging video content. However, they faced a few challenges in bringing this vision to life. Previously, they had created videos with a larger production crew of 4-5 people. While the videos turned out great, the process was time-consuming. It sometimes disrupted the daily operation of the store, which they wanted to avoid.
To address these challenges, Adler's sought the expertise of a seasoned media professional. The solution? Could we keep it simple and efficient? The suggestion was to downsize the production crew to just 1-2 people and utilize the power of an iPhone to capture high-quality videos with excellent sound. This approach promised the same level of expertise but with minimal impact on the store's day-to-day operations. Adler's embraced this technique wholeheartedly. And it is what I call our Short-Form Video that I offer.
What We Accomplished
I arrived at the store with a streamlined approach and created two videos in a single session. These videos were designed to share Adler's team members' deep knowledge and expertise. The videos were filmed horizontally, catering to various social media platforms, including Instagram reels, in which we created a vertically-formatted version of the video.
The key to the success of this approach was its simplicity. Instead of elaborate setups and numerous crew members, the subjects could speak from the heart, sharing their valuable insights without unnecessary distractions. This genuine approach allowed Adlers Design Center and Hardware to connect with their audience more personally.
The Results
The results were nothing short of impressive. A series of videos featuring Adler's experts answering design-related questions began appearing on their social media channels and website. This engaged their existing customer base and positioned them as authorities in their field, boosting their credibility and trustworthiness.
