Supporting Shopping Local
Husband and wife small business owners at their brewery, representing the people and partnerships behind local, independent businesses.
Over the past year, I’ve worked with organizations across a wide range of industries, including travel, technology, biotech, agriculture, banking, manufacturing, compliance, industrial services, and small businesses. Those small businesses range from multi-generational hardware stores and independent retailers to yoga studios and service-based companies.
Supporting small businesses has always been an important part of my work. I value the opportunity to hear owners’ stories, understand their goals, and create photography and video that help them share their passion with their communities. Small businesses play a critical role in local economies, culture, and connection.
A few years ago, I developed Visual Thrive as an initiative within Indermaur Media, focused on helping small businesses grow through thoughtful marketing and visual storytelling. That work evolved during my participation in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program, where the idea expanded into a broader effort to support local commerce.
As part of that evolution, I helped launch ShopLocalRhodeIsland.com, which began as a directory of Rhode Island businesses and later grew into a multi-vendor marketplace. What started with more than 2,000 local businesses listed became a platform where companies could also sell their products directly to customers.
Today, that work continues to inform how I support small businesses through Indermaur Media. Whether through photography, video, website development, or strategic guidance, my focus remains the same: helping small businesses present themselves clearly, professionally, and authentically while strengthening the communities they serve.
